Call for Papers for NLPOR - First Workshop on Bridging NLP and Public Opinion Research
Co-Located With COLM 2025, 10.10.2025, Montreal, Canada
Recent advances in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs) are transforming how we engage with and interpret human-generated data—highlighting critical issues around data quality, bias, and ethics. At the same time, Public Opinion Research (POR) offers well-established methods for collecting high-quality, representative data from human subjects.
This interdisciplinary workshop, co-organized by MCML members, brings together experts from both fields to explore how POR can inform and strengthen NLP research, and how NLP methods can enhance POR. The goal is to foster dialogue and collaboration around data quality, methodological transparency, and ethical AI development in the age of LLMs.
Deadline for paper submission: June 23, 2025
The workshop is co-organized by our PIs Frauke Kreuter and Barbara Plank.
