School and Outreach Activities

We offer a variety of outreach programs to make AI-research more accessible. Through school activities, workshops, hands-on formats, and other outreach initiatives, we provide accessible insights into current research and the technologies behind it.

Young Talents & Schools

Important target groups of our outreach activities are young people and schools. We offer workshops and information events for both teachers and school children, with a special focus on the empowerment of girls.

Please contact us for further information.

We offer tailor-made workshops for the different school levels (Grundschule, Unterstufe, Mittelstufe, Oberstufe). Find more information below.

AI Workshops for Schools

Artificial intelligence shapes what students watch, read and write, but how it actually works usually stays invisible. Researchers from the MCML come to schools to change that. Our workshops explain what AI is, how it learns, where it fails and what questions it raises for society, interactively, with games, discussions and group work rather than lectures. We offer three versions, tailored to different age groups.

KI Trans - Technology Transfer Into the Education System

Teachers at all levels are challenged to design learning environments that equip young people with the skills necessary to engage with artificial intelligence. The KITrans project (2024-2025) focused on cross-institutional cooperation to design a hybrid continuing education program for teachers. The program aimed to contribute to necessary educational system transformation processes. Through concrete examples, practical strategies, and participatory involvement, the project's results enable teachers to design forward-looking lessons.

The project was led by Uta Hauck-Thum, Chair of Primary Education and Didactics at LMU together with Junge Tüftler. The MCML supported the project by providing expertise in AI and further pedagogical training for our Junior Members.
