On the Risks of Superintelligent AI
The resignation of an Anthropic employee has fueled the debate about the dangers of artificial intelligence. An article by n-tv explores how a superintelligent AI might emerge, for example through recursive self-improvement, where an AI trains itself and gradually surpasses human capabilities. It also looks at whether such systems can be reliably aligned with human values.
MCML PI Björn Ommer puts these scenarios into perspective. In his view, the most tangible risk at present is not an AI that spontaneously decides to wipe out humanity, but people who misuse powerful AI systems.
