Digdeep Podcast: Will the Lights Stay Off in Factories in the Future, Sebastian Linzmair?
News From the Digital World by MCML PI Frauke Kreuter and Christof Horn
In this episode of #digdeep, Sebastian Linzmair talks about roboters in factories of the future.
Industry 4.0 may not have fully lived up to expectations, but the digitalization and connectivity it enabled now provide the foundation for AI in manufacturing. Machine learning has long been used for tasks such as quality control, but AI is now evolving to orchestrate and optimize entire production processes.
AI agents can coordinate workflows across multiple systems, while "Physical AI" is paving the way for far more flexible and capable robots. As a result, manufacturing could become more efficient, adaptable, and better equipped to deliver highly customized products. Together with Sebastian Linzmair from Accenture, the discussion explores how close we are to the vision of the "dark factory" and what it means for Europe's future role in manufacturing.
