Digdeep Podcast: Does Europe Have Anything Else to Say About AI, Aljoscha Burchardt?
News From the Digital World by MCML PI Frauke Kreuter and Christof Horn
In this episode of #digdeep Aljoscha Burchardt talks about whether Europe still has a voice in the AI debate.
Four years after ChatGPT's breakthrough, the question is whether Europe has already fallen behind in the global AI race, with new restrictions and delayed product launches putting the continent at a disadvantage.
Aljoscha Burchardt questions the often used term “trustworthy AI” and draws attention to the fundamental question of what role AI should actually play in our society. He emphasizes that AI primarily makes existing weaknesses in administration, business and healthcare visible. At the same time, he sees the collaboration between humans and machines as an opportunity to develop better and more innovative solutions instead of just digitizing old processes.
Despite all the challenges, Burchardt is optimistic about the future and sees great potential in dealing with AI, especially for Europe.
Aljoscha Burchardt is a computational linguist and principal researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Berlin. As host of the ARD podcast “AI – and now?” he is one of the most profound AI explainers in the country.
