Barbara Plank Receives EMNLP 2025 SAC Highlight Award
Advancing Human-Centered Natural Language Inference
MCML PI Barbara Plank received an EMNLP 2025 Senior Area Chair (SAC) Highlight Award for the paper LiTEx: A Linguistic Taxonomy of Explanations for Understanding Within-Label Variation in Natural Language Inference. The award recognizes papers of exceptional quality and significance selected by the conference's Senior Area Chairs.
The award-winning paper introduces LiTEx, a linguistically informed taxonomy for analyzing how people explain natural language inference decisions. By capturing differences in human reasoning beyond simple labels, the work improves our understanding of within-label variation and enables language models to generate explanations that more closely resemble human reasoning.
Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
