Karsten Borgwardt
is Director of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Munich.
He coordinated several large research programs at national and international level in machine learning in medicine, including two Marie Curie PhD programs and the Personalized Swiss Sepsis Study on the prediction of sepsis by machine learning. Since February 2023, he is Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society and Director at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried and heads the Department of Machine Learning and Systems Biology. Since May 2023, he holds an honorary professorship at LMU Munich.
