Obtaining, Improving and Evaluating Spatio-Temporal Information for Efficient Solutions of Mobility Problems

MCML Authors

Abstract

The thesis explores how real-time information can improve the optimization of street traffic while balancing costs, environmental impact, and service quality. It compares methods for placing stationary sensors, introduces more cost-efficient solutions, and discusses the use of mobile sensors with imputation techniques for incomplete data. Furthermore, it evaluates how different data qualities affect mobility solutions. These contributions are demonstrated through applications such as parking search, cooperative fleet planning, and ambulance redeployment, including a novel formulation for electric ambulances.
