Björn Schuller: What Your Voice Reveals About Your Health

Research Film

Did you know your voice can reveal early signs of serious diseases?

«We can hear your heartbeat just from your voice, down to a few beats per minute, to hear what's going on with your heart and many other health states.»

Björn Schuller

MCML PI

MCML PI Björn Schuller explains why the voice is a powerful tool for understanding mental and physical health. From detecting early signs of Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and depression, to measuring your heartbeat from your voice alone, AI can pick up on subtle nuances that even trained humans miss. He also addresses the privacy risks of voice analysis and argues that individuals should be in control of what they share and with whom.

In this video series, discover how MCML researchers are bridging theory and practice to build AI systems that prioritize accessibility, sovereignty, and impact.

The film was produced and edited by Nicole Huminski and Nikolai Huber.
