Digdeep Podcast: SaaSocalypse Now – Is AI Eating the Software Business, Ulrich Hutter?

News From the Digital World by MCML PI Frauke Kreuter and Christof Horn

In this episode of #digdeep, Ulrich Hutter talks about AI and the software business.

Marc Andreessen coined the phrase “software eats the world” in 2011 – today, the question is whether AI will transform or even disrupt traditional software business models.

SaaS models based on monthly subscription fees have been highly profitable, but AI is increasingly making it possible to develop, code, and host software with just a few prompts. This could significantly simplify and shorten the previously lengthy and costly process of selecting, implementing, and adapting software.

Ulrich Hutter, who develops specialized software with his company, confirms that AI can already take over up to 80 percent of programming work.

Nevertheless, he believes that good developers are more important than ever – because if humans in the "human in the loop” merely click “Next,” the question arises of who is actually still in control of the software.

Just listen in (podcast in German).
