On October 23, 2025, the next Munich AI Lecture will welcome Yoshua Bengio (Université de Montréal, Mila), A.M. Turing Award laureate and one of world’s most cited computer scientist.
In his talk, “Avoiding catastrophic risks from uncontrolled AI agencies”, Bengio will address the challenges of increasingly powerful AI systems and propose “Scientist AIs” as a trustworthy, non-agentic alternative.
Following the lecture, a panel discussion will bring together perspectives from science, government, and industry. MCML PI Gitta Kutyniok will join the discussion alongside Stephanie Jacobs and Andrea Martin. The panel will be moderated by Michael Klimke.
The evening concludes with a reception, offering opportunities for exchange and networking.
