On AI Forecasting for Commodity Prices

Wars, trade conflicts, and climate change are making commodity prices increasingly volatile. This creates cost risks for companies that sign supply contracts months in advance. As a result, more and more companies are turning to AI-based forecasting models, which can analyze large amounts of data in real time and detect complex patterns that traditional statistical methods may miss.

In an article published by Handelsblatt on August 27, 2026, MCML PI Stefan Feuerriegel shared his perspective on the potential and limitations of AI forecasts for commodity prices.
